Mathieu Caron is Director of the Canadian Space Agency’s (CSA) Astronauts, Life Sciences, and Space Medicine (ALSSM) division.  He joined the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) in 1999 as a mission controller for the Mobile Servicing System.  Until 2017, he actively supported Canadarm2 and Dextre operations from the Johnson Space Center Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas, and from the CSA’s Space Operations Support Centre, as Mission Control Supervisor, Mission Operations Manager, and Operations & Training Manager.  In May 2017, he became Manager for the team responsible for the implementation of Canadian utilization payloads on the ISS, before taking on the role of ALSSM director.

Mathieu received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University (Montreal, 1994) and obtained a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, 1997), specializing in space-based manipulator dynamics and control.
